Terroirs, vineyard and grape varieties.
History
Former estate of the Marquis de Lordas, the Château Tour Saint Honoré is located in the South of the Maures massif, facing the Iles d'or. It extends the majority of its 30ha of vines on the clay-shist slopes facing South, in the commune of La Londe les Maures.
Its buildings dating from the end of the 18th century, including this tower, where in the "Belle Epoque" the press was directly connected by a system of clay pipes to the glass vats, have kept their authenticity, which gives it today this slightly old-fashioned charm that makes its history.
Owner of Château Tour St-Honoré since 1988, Serge Portal, of Londaise descent, has been a winegrower from father to son for 5 generations. Full of curiosity, Serge Portal, plays with the grape varieties like a child with colors, without preconceived ideas.
Vineyard
It stretches through over 30ha grown in organic culture.
It is on four different geographic spots in La Londe Les Maures.
On the North, the Borrels valley gives to the wine a mineral touch thanks to the schist.
In the middle of Notre Dame des Maures, schist and clay hills, with a little part of sandstone soil, give a typical touch to our wine which is ideal for our older wines.
On the South, the Haut and Bas Pansard, with a clayey soil produce richer wines.
On the East, exposed to the North, the white grapes varieties have a nice freshness.
Grapes varieties
The different grapes varieties used for the Rosé are Grenache, Cinsault, Vermentino and Mourvèdre.
For the Red wine we are using Grenache, Cinsault, Syrah, Mourvèdre and Cabernet Sauvignon.
Finally for the white ones, we are growing up Vermentino and Sémillion.
Thanks to the geographical area, the micro-climate and the more and more elaborate and modern winegrowing, our production will give you terroir, capricious and rich wines. With all of these, we will share with you our passion for the Provence Wines. These wines can be appreciated on their own or with a meal to give a friendly atmosphere.
The domain is in organic culture since 2011 and in wine making since 2013.
